The truth is that with the public education system we have a less literate society than we did prior to the public education system.

Proof that the system is failing is easy to come by. Find a book that was required reading in any year prior to 1950. You'll need one that along with the ISBN code there is a little code that says RL followed by a whole and decimal number. Now, find the same book printed in the last 10 or 20 years. The older book will have an RL that is at least two full whole numbers lower than the current edition!

A literate public is not one that now has a 6th grade reading level that used to be a 4th grade or lower grade reading level!

Reality check reading is necissary in this society and
there are plenty who aren't learning.

I am not being
theoretical here, this is an
observed fact.

Observed by who. By anyone who is objective? How
many thousand examples, if you haven't observed a
sizable population you can't be sure.

You have, VanDell, the artifical paradigm of
"subjects" in mind.

That paradigm may be in your mind but it isn't in
mine. Please confine yourself to the truth.
