You know, this whole line of questioning is really ridiculous. I don't blame
any of these guys for the actions they took to avoid war. Who wants to be
drafted into doing things they don't want, especially going to war. Cheney
requested and got deferrels from service successfully. Kerry requested the
exact same
thing multiple times and was refused. I dont blame either one for trying and
neither should be blamed for trying. Bush served in the national guard to
avoid battle, and I don't blame him. Kerry made the most of self inflicted
cuts
and minor injuries to get his purple hearts and release from combat in 3
months.
I don't really blame him for trying this either. I admit, I really don't like
the actions Kerry took upon returning though, as they hung his fellow
soldiers, still fighting in vietnam and unable to defend themselves out to
dry. He
admits now, testifying under false pretenses and relating lies to congress.
But
worst of all, he only did this after starting his own run for office and for
personal political gain. The only real mistake Kerry has made, and the one
that
will cost him the white house, is using his spotty "hero" status as the
keystone of his campaign. Had he never brought this into the fray and
concentrated
on economy and other issues, he would be in the lead now. Time will tell, I
suppose, but I think political hari kari will lead to a loss in november.
