re: Billy Joel's Attila

Wow, that record is a third of the way to being truly
truly great. The combination of drums and overdriven
organ faking out like it's a guitar (with wah-wah?) is
really righteous, and two dudes in Ostrogoth outfits
singing "Tear This Castle Down" should be about the
greatest song ever. It's a great template for a band.
But...

The drummer doesn't thrash at all, he's got no life,
totally competent but not interesting enough to be
half of a duo. He's needs to either suck a little bit
or embrace his inner Goth and do unto his drum kit and
Alaric did unto Rome. The singing is all wrong and the
lyrics are stupid in the wrong ways, and the title
track makes me feel like I've been imprisoned in the
House of Blues when the band is really feeling it. But
it *should* be great.
