My own personal opinion is that the GFDL fails miserably in this
respect (and in other ones, as well)...

The definition of "Transparent format" in the GFDL is contorted and
flawed. As I said in my other reply, I am convinced that the best
definition of source code is the one found in the GNU GPL.
