Thank you, James, now it becomes clearer to me. I found several
versions of wireless-tools on the web, but was only able to compile it
in my BL2 environment, so the binaries do not work in BL3.

This is why I started my BL2 installation with 2.2.26 kernel in
order to initialize the wireless card. I got the impression that the
SW 7.1 version of cardmgr has some problem, but the modules at least
seem to load correctly. The wireless utilities, however did not work
because there was no interface created (apart from lo).

Two questions:

1. Are there any compiled versions of wireless-tools for the BL3
environment (libc5) available?

2. How can I test whether the cardmgr operation is successful and
an interface for iwconfig (e.g. wlan0) exists?

Regards,
Christof
