Did you try caching your pages in MagicPoint? I don't
know whether it caches graphics or just scripts, but
it's worth a try. If that worked, you'd be able to
give MagicPoint a few minutes to load the pages before
your presentation starts. But, as I say, I don't know
if MagicPoint will cache images. I rarely use images
in my presentations (mainly because they are so slow
on a 486 laptop).

As far as I am concerned, 1152x864x16 is an extreme
resolution (which puts an unreasonable demand on an
old PC). 800x600x15 is more than adequate for ordinary
use. Even 640x480x15 should be enough for the sort of
images that come through your average PowerPoint projector.
