The bzimage is an experimental 2.4.18 kernel. It is not
compatible with the BL3 modules.

The more up-to-date kernel must be able to handle something
in your computer that the older BL3 kernel cannot. IIRC your
computer is only a few years old and probably did not exist
when the 2.2.16 kernel was developed. It is possible that
full support for your system only appeared in later kernels.

That's the usual Xvesa problem. It normally occurs because
a DOS TSR messed up a pointer. The usual solution is to boot
DOS without a config.sys and without an autoexec.bat. However,
you are booting BL3 with a 2.4 kernel (which makes you unique).
I simply do not know what the BL3 Xvesa does when run on a 2.4
kernel. I'll probably try it myself after sending this message.

Cheers,
Steven
