There is a volume command switch for PLAY, but it doesn't work.
I get the error message ....../dev/mixer not found
Would it work if there was a dev called mixer ?

I created the following script to make sound device files which sb.o makes
incorrectly (dsp and audio devices get removed and then remade).
You can create the mixer devices by just typing out the two relevant lines
and making the device files executable. Remove the # if you want to make
all of the following devices. My book said you need only dsp audio and
mixer for playing 'sound'.

I tried your script, but it didn't change anything. I still get the same
error message: usr/bin/play: 49: mixer: not found

Did you first remove the # from in front of any lines in the script with 'mixer'?

I will try installing devs.tgz from SW4.0 and see if that makes a
difference.

Later: Nope. It didn't make a difference. Same error message.

ls -l /dev/mixer*

Is there no file by that name? Did you try Christof's package which includes device files?

Maybe this is another bug?
I will try BL3 sound as soon as the new version is posted.

I stopped downloading new versions after the first three since I had made a lot of changes to it that I did not want to keep remaking. With the new links2 and icewm most of my changes are now unnecessary.

Regards,
Ron
