No. They are libc5. BL2 is glibc2.

Perhaps, but I think it is more likely that the problem
arises because I used a 2.4 kernel to compile Xvesa.
I'm going to experiment and see whether booting BL3 with
a 2.4 kernel helps Xvesa.
