So BL3 contains static uClibc versions of busybox and

Would the BL3 Xvesa that you compiled also work in BL2?

Probably.

Is there any chance of your posting an xvesa add-on for BL2
that could be used INSTEAD OF your bl2-x.tgz package

I am no longer developing stuff for BL2. My focus is entirely
on BL3 now.

Could you at least package Xvesa for BL2, using the executable that you compiled for BL3? I can't figure out how to get the delilinux package working without installing the 10MB files you recommended for Bl2 X. It won't use the fonts I installed. Or do I just copy over all the files in /usr/X11R6 from BL3 to BL2? Anything else I would need, such as scripts or .xinitrc? /var/X11R6? Would the BL3 libraries for X work in BL2?

Would a dynamic glibc (libc6, 2.1.3) Xvesa be larger or smaller
than the static uClibc that you compiled?

Around the same size. But, if you are running glibc2 libraries,
you would be better off with a dynamic glibc2 version. I suspect
that some (most?) of the problems we are having with Xvesa are
caused by the way it was compiled (static uClibc).

I have problems with the delilinux Xvesa in BL2, specifically I have to bypass the startup files (himem.sys).

Yes. Although I am running into relatively few programs
that fail to compile on libc5. A much bigger impediment
is Xvesa.

Impediment in what way?

They work fine with a normal Xserver, but they crash with Xvesa.
Usually the crash is immediate. Sometimes the program comes up
fine, but crashes the first time you click on it.

Opera works fine with Xvesa in BL2 on one computer. xv worked fine. xpdf worked. I did not try other X programs in BL2 with Xvesa. Console programs seem to work okay. Realaudio worked on the one computer that I was able to install it on, in Xvesa, BL2.

I would try installing Realaudio with X in plain VGA (bl2-x.tgz) but it insists on having more colors.

Maybe the BL3 Xvesa problem is due to use of uClibC Xvesa when the other programs are compiled with a glibc5?
