Would the BL3 libraries for X work in BL2?

No. They are libc5. BL2 is glibc2.

If I were to set up /usr/X11R6 and /var/X11R6 in BL2 to contain files of the same name as in BL3 but from SW71 instead of SW4.0 would that work? Or at least have the same symlinks but pointing to the library files with the SW71 version number if they differ. I presume the fonts can be copied directly, tho not the /bin and /lib/*lib* files.

Maybe the BL3 Xvesa problem is due to use of uClibC
Xvesa when the other programs are compiled with a glibc5?

Perhaps, but I think it is more likely that the problem
arises because I used a 2.4 kernel to compile Xvesa.
I'm going to experiment and see whether booting BL3 with
a 2.4 kernel helps Xvesa.

Why did you use a 2.4 kernel, was that needed by uClibC? How much bigger would the kernel be for BL3 if you compiled a 2.4 kernel with the same configuration as the current one?

Is this the only linux using glibc5 AND uClibC AND a program compiled with kernel 2.4? You sure are pushing the limits here. I hope it all works out eventually.

Cheers,
Steven
