The DOS version of BL3 happily installs to an ext2 partition.
You simply run install-to-hd (same as the floppy version).

Not recommended.

You would also need to edit /etc/fstab and /etc/rc.

Who told you that? It wasn't me. You can use either version
to install to HD. The only difference between the two versions
is one boots from lilo and the other from loadlin.exe.

Either.

Which CD is that? I'm guessing your CD is glibc2 based.
BL3 is libc5 based. Slackware 4.0 (and earlier) are libc5
based.

What happens when you do: ldd /bin/utelnetd
I expect that will tell you the glibc2 libraries are missing.
If you want to run a telnet server on BL3, you can use the one
in Slackware 4.0 (although BL3 is not designed as a server OS).

Slackware 7.1 is glibc2 based. You need to install the tcpip1.tgz
package from Slackware 4.0 (or earlier). Then execute:
-----------------
in.telnetd -debug
-----------------
Normally in.telnetd is run by inetd (with authentication). Using
the -debug parameter avoids that.

install-to-hd

Steven
