It won't log in, it will dial and connect.
It won't 'dial and log into'. It will dial and won't 'log into'.
However you phrase it, it won't work with my bbs on the current hardware
and software.

I just tried all three ways. You need to specify remote directory and I
am using the username for that too. But the program objects to USER
ftpput: USER error: 'USER .s18.cps17104.students

At the other ftp site the username worked okay as the directory but it had
no '.' in it.
