The DOS RAMdisk is maintained by DOS. As soon as the
Linux kernel boots, DOS dies (and along with it the DOS
ramdisk).

The BL2 Linux kernel takes up about 2mb RAM. That gives
you just under 2mb RAM to work with. Once init starts and
the essential background processes start running, you are
left with around 500kb RAM (on an machine with 8mb RAM).
