I've tried to get a pcmcia NIC going on my BL2 laptop without much
success. So, I'm trying to analyze the problem. First, I need to find
out whether I am using the right procedures to get the card recognized.
What I've done thus far is to install the pcmcia.tgz package and edit
/etc/pcmcia/config to reflect some specs of my card. Having done so does
not get the computer to recognize that it has a NIC: ifconfig eth0
192.168.x.x results in the message "SIOCSIFADDR: No such device." Have I
left out something in trying to implement pcmcia functionality on this
machine? Is something involved beyond installing pcmcia.tgz and doing
some editing of files as I've done?

Also, since this machine has a questionable HD, I'd like to run fsck more
frequently than usual - say, once every 5 or 10 boots. What is the file
to edit to get fsck to check the disk this often on boot?

Thanks, James
