Aloha,

The way I've always heard it is:

"While waiting for enlightenment - chop wood, carry water..."

...which I usually take to mean do what's in front of me, live in the
present, instead of living in the future (dream/fantasy/not present).
Designing for the future (which can be a here and now activity) can be
useful - but not living there.

Does he (Fukuoka) offer any ideas as to why they choose to do so?
