very true. and towards the end of their lifespan they show a weakness: they
tend to shed whole huge limbs that are like small trees in themselves. even
hardhats wouldnt help a whole lot...

Lots of these soft wooded trees get to be real hazards when they die, I hate taking them down when they get rotted; be very mindful of weak limbs high on the tree that can snap off as the tree starts to fall.
