you pollard the trees when the pastures are droughted out. You can also use
some of the leafy branches for compost or chipping. And the roots will firm
up wet areas. Instead of single trees here, there, plant 'em in rows. Say,
alongside your elongated swales which you made with a plow during drought.
You can plant the while the cattle are in the same paddock; just find a good
one, and cut it into 9 foot posts in the winter, drop 'em into augered holes
and stand back.
