I'd like to turn this area into park like pasture with a good number of the larger and more desirable species of trees. There are lots of willows, and elder berry trees that seem to grow fast, and die off just as quickly under constant stress of too much, or too little water. There's a lot of dying, or standing dead wood in this area already.
I was planning to take all that stuff down...but it's a job getting it out of the way.
noooooooooo...
er...sorry. I often try to persuade folks to leave dead snags and such for bat, bird, and fungal habitat. You can't have too many as far as I'm concerned. But then...it depends on how close they are to the house or other structures. Basically...if you can keep them, I'd hioghly recommend it.
