Real quick thangs:

Re: Shared Web Workspace -
Chad wrote, " Even though it's fun to make it happen, I'm not convinced that
we need a *shared web workspace*. Unless we can discern real benefits from
using it and make ourselves transition from the email list to the webspace I
suspect that much of our group work will continue to take place on email."
This is what I keep asking. Do we *need* a shared web workspace other than
this listserv? Why and for what????

Chad also responded to Archer's comment, writing, "Not sure I share this view
or maybe I misunderstand. I think that editorial privileges should be
restricted to the working group, but being a public project and having the
philosophical ideals around intellectual property that I do, I would really
prefer that everything we do and say at least be readable by the public. I
would actually prefer that the archives of this list be readable by the public
but not strongly enough than I need to do more than express my preference."
In complete agreement. This entire project is about accessibility.

Re: Website -
Chad wrote, "I think you are reacting to some of the navigational elements and
layout, which can be easily customized (aka removed). There actually isn't
much information in terms of content. I think more content will diminish the
sense of imbalance of between theme/navigation and information."
True. Maybe we ought to determine what the navigational elements should be
with respect to what we want this site to provide (and before we start adding
content to elements that we don't want in there in the first place). Yup.
Let's think about it. Hmmm.

Chad also wrote many other things. Including, "In this regards, currently
permaculture.info is a rock bottom contentless site. Anybody want to write
some boilerplate about our project? I nominate Steph!... actually, you could
just use some of the stuff you've already written." Thanks for the
nomination. I accept. I'll try to figure out how to post stuff this weekend.
Otherwise, I might ask you to do it, pal.

Re: Task updates -
And Chad wrote something else too. It was, "All good except for sending them
as Word attachments. I and several others in this project do not or cannot
use Word for a variety of reasons and I suggest going with a more platform
neutral format. Plain text is the best IMO, but .rtf is ok by me."
Fine with me.

Re: Steph's ugly emails -
One one last thing that Chad wrote (as you can tell, I like to quote Chad), "I
have a similar problem with them. My guess is that Stephanie writes her
sythesis in Word (on a Mac?) and pastes them into a webmail text box. I'm able
to work around it ok. Stephanie, no rush, but you
should consider using a non-webmail email client such as Mozilla
Thunderbird (if your running OS X), which you will thank yourself for
over and over later as it will solve all your email travails."
Ok fine. I admit. I use Word. So sue me. Or rather, help me. What is
Mozilla and Thunderbird. They sound scary. Can you hold my hand if I make
this transition?

Not at all. It sounds like a perfectly sound decision. Does this mean that
those of us interested in raising money to buy HG a Zope machine to donate to
ibiblio
can get started on doing this? If and when we are able to get a Zope server
operational there will you and Rich start/move current work to that location
and transfer the permaculture.info domain to ibiblio for hosting?
