I have two seedling Diospyros virginiana here in Michigan. I am in zone
5 near Lansing, MI. One produces fruit very reliably and the other
produces a few fruit some years. Last year production was down because
of a late frost. I don't know if this winter's cold temperatures will
effect production.

Hartmann Plant Company is tissue culturing Diospyros virginiana
recommended for zone 4. If not already growing in the northern-most
States, they likely soon will be.
