My 30 year old Red Delicious apple tree bought in the Niagara Peninsula is 'delicious'. It was my favourite apple in my childhood too long ago to mention; that's why I planted one. The commercial varieties available in the markets today in no way reflect the heritage of the Delicious apple. Each good apple brings to the table different elements of desireability - HEY - that's just like people.
We always make comparisons with the past. This sports team rivals, or is better than, the best team that was ever developed. This movie is the greatest ever made! How does ARod compare with a Mantle or a Mays?....
Perhaps nostalgia does distort out opinions a bit - but I'm so glad to be able to experience it. Is the sun shining yet?
