The only cultivated/purple plums I've seen in s.WI
were in Madison. All badly infected with pseudomonas
&/or infested with borers. The best local plums are
the wild native fencerow species. P.canadensis or
nigra, I forget-- I could look this up if anyone's
curious. And THESE PLUMS make the best wine!
