Chilling generally means below 45 degrees. 150 hours would be 6ΒΌ full days
under 45.

However, pomegranates are known to fruit without any chilling, so go
figure...I've seen chilling recommendations from 0 to 300 hours.

Thanks. I've been looking up pomegranates on the web, and they sound
perfect: drought tolerant, not fussy about soil, and okay at room
temps for most of the year. Also attractive and mildly exotic. I'm
torn between eversweet (which might be hard to keep small enough) and
nana, which sounds like a nuisance to eat, but is probably the better
ornamental, and would fit the space well. But I love pomegranates, and
it would be a lot of fun to grow my own. . .

Raintree says 150 chill hours. Do you know how cool it needs to get.
Just wondering if cool nights in the house might be enough, or if
that's unreasonable. 50F? 40F? I suppose I could take it outside for
a month in the spring or fall and still have a nice houseplant most of
the year.

And I will try alpine strawberries as well, in a long low planter.
