"she has access to a barn but she and the other two horses are free to roam
an acre sized area 24/7."

This seems to be a key in colic prevention... I've never had a horse on 24/7
pasture colic. Knock wood. It seems to be more prevalent in horses who are
stalled. Or is this a fantasy?

Just my little opinion, but the key with ANY feed, is to transition slowly
to something different, I think pellets or textured feed, hay-hay or cubed
hay, it comes down to the individual horse. The concern for MSAR
application, JMO... is something we discussed last fall, I think... some
teams are called to search in areas that will not allow them to bring in
hay, which to me is ridiculous, but we have to play by the rules.

SO, the question would be, how to incorporate a complete/pelleted feed or
pellets and cubed hay so that the horses' delicate digestive systems are not
shocked when going into that type of situation?

I'll go back to my corner now. Oh, if anyone has contacts in the Cedar
Rapids Iowa area, please let me know, I'm moving there to start a new job
March 15, and am looking for board for Shadow, and housing for me.
