Unfortunately yes. Not sure that anyone around here plants that much at one
time, but they do several hundred feet at a crack.

Two different ways of approaching the 'trays.' One is to use standard
plastic gutter (stable, but wide, accommodates more roots), other is to take
the downspout piping material and cut it in half lengthwise with a sawzall.
More flimsy, but smaller so more fit in less space. Have to watch them
closely and plant out before the rows twine together. More expensive than
the gutters. But considering you will never buy another tray to plant peas
(and other crops that might come to mind) for as long as you wish to farm,
and you will get a premium for those early, early peas every year, then the
initial cost becomes a little more justifiable.

Not a perfect solution, but the one that works best for early production in
our cold, wet bottomland soils.

Do I understand you correctly that for 1000 row feet of peas you would need
1000 feet of gutter?
