Hikers are ok for stand around stuff but not for planting and picking, anytime
you work soft soil and bend a lot your feet need the stiff support of a
standard leather work boot. Also you need a tight fitting shoe with a stiff
sole when carrying heavy items 50 pounds and up all day. In the greenhouse I
prefer the traditional 6" LL Bean boot. I keep a short piece of pipe next to
my
back door, I use it to bang out the dirt stuck in the treads before entering
my
home. BTW when you become a farmer you need a home you can live in not just
look at, so a little dirt on the floor is ok...Bob.
