I'm located in southwest Michigan.
I have heard of the "TradeLake" sheep and the Falk's sheep dairy. From what I understand they have mineralized the soil of their farm to create excellent quality forage. I'm sure that's the main reason for high production and high quality cheese!
I'm interested in learning more about your role in creating a sustainable farm.

Ryan

It is mary over at lovetree. She and Janet over at Tamarack know each other. Mary's web addy is http://www.lovetreefarmstead.com/home.htm
She is really really nice but hard to reach this time of year because this is the midst of their season. She has created a breed of sheep called "TradeLake" sheep. Both these women have the vision, focus and dedication to create their dreams. They both impress me very very much.

Where are you located Ryan?

Aliza
who is working on the focus part of creating a sustainable farm.

I have a flock of Tamarack Sheep and am impressed with their ability to convert grass to meat.
It amazes me how it is possible to select animals (cows, sheep, chickens, etc.) that thrive on as little input as green grass, clean water and sunshine but most farmers want to sock the grain to them, build big, fancy barns on concrete and have the vet out every other week keeping them drugged up!
I'd sure like to hear more about this lady milking sheep, getting 3-1/2 pounds of milk on grass that Aliza wrote about!
