Now, that sounds a lot less sinister than your original request, and
there might be a way to do this. Since cookies are out of the question,
you could set a variable in the query string and pass it around from
request to request. Every time someone starts a new session by, say,
going to the home page, you update the query string.
This can be done automatically in languages like PHP using sessions w/o
cookies (without having to alter existing pages) and I am sure there are
similar things on other platforms.
