Here is the real lesson. Conditions can change fast. No one can drive on ice. You are never made whole after an accident and your rates will go up. Many of the roads here are designed to shed water fast and have exaggerated crowning and reverse banking that make travel in ice and snow especially difficult. It is not a matter of experience in many cases, it is harder to drive here in the snow than in the great white north. As an arrogant yankee myself, since reformed, I once pooh poohed those who left early to go home when it started to snow. Now, I'm one of the first out the door, if only to set a good example for others. I drive slower than normal and adjust my speed so that I avoid using the brakes in curves. But you all know all about that I'm sure.
