I get the same upper back / neck thing that Joe describes but mine is
recurring and chronic. In the past 5 years I've spent about $5000 on
chiropractors, massage therapists, accupuncturists, osteopaths and regular
doctors.

Although the Aeron may be one of the defining symbols of the recent dotcom
excesses, for people who do have back problems that is money well spent. For
people who don't yet have back problems *yet* it is a good preventative
measure, probably worth every penny.

Since I pay for my own chairs, I get to pick what I sit in, but if I worked
for an employer who wouldn't pay for a proper chair I'd bring in my own. If
you are spending 8 - 12 - 14 hrs a day in a chair, you are going to need a
good one.
