Ick! Banner ads!

Why not try to convince them to let you round up local web talent for a pro
bono open source shopping cart application that sells logo wear/attire and
such for all Wake Co. schools? Half of any proceeds (we can dream) go the
individual schools. The other half go towards a slush fund to purchase arms
for freedom figh... wait... wrong mailing list.

You could also link to the src for the appliation once it is completed for
other school systems around the country to download and enjoy or contribute
to and refine.

Just a thought...

Subject: [internetworkers] Justifying a Web Presence

All,

I find myself presented with a problem at work: a push to turn the Wake
County Public School System's Website into a profit center.

The folks pushing this idea believe that there is pile of easily obtainable
money to be had in the form of banner ads and affiliate programs.
