I felt the same way, and was hearing alarm bells every time I watched
his speeches. I read his books and that did not put my mind at ease. I
was concerned that both candidates were from the progressive camp so
it was a bit of a non-election but felt McCain would have to debate any
changes he wanted to make with both congress and senate being under
the control of the Democrats and would lessen sweeping changes we
might not want. I think what had me on alert as much as anything was that
the Dems would have the ability to pass anything they wanted whether
the Reps. showed up that day or not. Absolute authority is never good.

Ironically the Dems argued that with this complete control they would not
have to give political favors (bribes) to get things passed and this would
be
a good thing for the people. We have seen though that politicians are fluid
and if there is a void in the bribable opposition, politicians will
suddenly
find reasons to oppose and get their payoff. We have seen massive payoffs
within the ruling party to get things passed, the Louisianna purchase,
Cornhusker compromise, Doctor package, exclusions for Unions from the
Cadillac tax etc etc.

It is well known that you do more homework than anyone. Did your
research lead you to vote for McCain and Palin, some one else, or no
one? If you could explain it all to us, we might do better next time.
