I try to use Adjustable wrenches as little as possible. No matter how good
they are, they will spread when you put a heavy pull on one. That rounds
off the shoulders and makes it even harder to get a good grip.

I have several adjustable wrenches and Vice-Grips but use them only as a
last resort. One of the adjustables is a Crescent brand from the 30s.

If a rusted nut or bolt is difficult to get off, there are methods and
products. The best product I have used is PB Blaster. Give some rusty nuts
a blast, wait a bit and then start working it back and forth until it comes
loose. Others recommend Kano Kroil but I have never tried it so have no
comment.

A home brew mixture that comes highly recommended by a friend is a 50-50
mixture of ATF and Acetone. Again I have not tried it but will the next
time I have rusty parts to remove.

A method I like is heat. An oxy-Acetylene torch applied at the right place
will loosen rusty nuts and screws. I have used this many times with success
and have used a soldering iron successfully on small screws. Many swear by
the torch and a little water to blast rust.
