I finally decided to knock over the remaining tires.  Even though I checked
pretty thoroughly a few weeks ago I was surprised this a/m.  I had forgotten
that when I started that project that I dug down into the soil, put in the
spud pieces, buried them and then put a layer of newspaper to help hold down
any weeds before I started the mulching soil process up into the tires as the
plants grew.  Next to nothing grew in the mulch/soil area (I suspect it was
too hot in there, but it yielded awesome compost...)  but........ surprise
hiding under the newspaper... a couple of really big taters,,, the biggest of
the year.

Thank you for that.  Here I was beating myself up for not digging my

I'm embarrassed to say that I did not check the link. I had several
windows open and Netscape crashed. I was in a hurry to get back outside
and just did not follow through. If I had realized that it went back to
a WND site, I would have at least put a disclaimer up...lol..and
probably looked at the Conservative Spotlight site a little closer.
I had seen that WND story before and know that they have misinterpreted
what the Hawaiian Homestead site states. WND was comparing apples to
oranges in this case. I read both Daily Kos and WND articles, but I
think they are both unreliable at times. Opposite ends of the spectrum...
Anyway, I'd never heard of this Conservative Spotlight, but the
misspelling of 'shining' as 'shinning' should have been a clue as to
their dedication to detail.
My apologies.
