Potatoes are knowledgeable vegetables. They know the year has not yet
passed. They will not grow again until next spring.

In the summer only harvest as many as you will eat in two or three weeks.

Yesterday we went to pick blueberries (got eight gallons) in Shady Valley,
Tn, which is only six miles away but at a considerably higher elevation.
It's a very high glacial valley and very rich farmland. The big pumpkin
crops
were just now blooming and we went past a field of potatoes that were just
setting on blossoms. Now there will be some really good keeping potatoes!
