Rob, Lisa, aren't we all in Zone 7? Or are you in 6 Lisa?
If we are all going to grow broccoli, we can conduct our own little
non-scientific experiment. I am planting my seeds today for transplant
in early March. Our last frost is around March 30, but if I want until
April to transplant, the heat of May and June just kills the taste and
texture. By transplanting in early March and just covering the plants
on super cold night, I gain a month and the broc tastes better. Of
course, that is inherently risky, but I take the risk, with global
warming and all<G>. So I will be the early person, and you guys can hash
out who will go next. I will post a final count on what I have sown
later. We can later calculate percentages and compare notes. What do
you say?

I think I remember last year. I ended up planting about when you
did and had a miserable crop also. I need to have the broccoli in
the ground by mid March to the end of March. I'm planting seeds
here in a week or so.
I heard from a friend/neighbor last night:
we start broc and caul in early march and transplant in april.
I'd say that makes sense due to your elevation. When did you plant last year. I think I planted in early May. Way late for here. It also
depends on the year and the weather. I've always had good broccoli, but last year was a bust.
