That is called 'directional drilling". It has been used for a long time but
the new technology is allowing drilling in ways not considered just a few
years ago. New drilling technologies iis why some 'experts' believe the
"peak oil" theories are now bunk. I have no opinion, I just read all of the
opposing opinions, and am happy the oil is cheap presently, and hope it stays
that way for a loong time..................
