Quite right. I was sidetracked by the misleading reporting that the well exploded and was envisioning a broken wire at the pump but that is problemmatical because it is under water. It was not the well, it was the well house (pit) that exploded, thus using up all the gas from the traveling bubble. No gas was found in the water because it was all burned. For now.

Pure speculation: a bubble of natural gas worked its way through the
karst acquifer, got into her well, the pump sparked and away it blew.
The puzzle is the oxygen source. Hm, h2O. Nah, the gas would have
risen through her well water to the air space above. Bingo and boom.
Nah, the spark would be under water. How to make the connection? Low
water table? The timing of gas and oxygen being in immediate proximity
is the issue.
