I would have to agree, but as always I see both sides. I've had both lousy and great HMOs, so I know they don't all terminate their incompetent employees even if they can. I also know some very dedicated, hardworking government employees. Overall, I'm satisfied with my HMO coverage except that it's costing us too much of our income and we aren't sure how we'll afford it when we retire. Fortunately, we are fairly healthy, and each year we don't have enough medical expenses to itemize on our taxes. We just pray we don't come down with something that would make us uninsurable. We know a lot of couples in your situation, one working just to get healthcare insurance. I'm hoping these issues will be resolved.

One big difference is that a really incompetent private insurance company employee can be terminated. Not true for gov't employees. Sometimes, I think general incompetence is a postive on a resume or C.V. for a gov't position ...............................................
