Speaking as a person whose father was educated in Texas (through high
school) and whose aunts and uncles were born there (Grandma wintered
in Texas with her parents, while Grandpa stayed in Illinois through
the duck hunting season at least), I always classify Texas as Texas.
It has Southern, Western, and Mexican influences that all blend
together in such a unique way that it can't be type cast.
