In my area people wait until they fall from the tree, often after a strong wind.

In California English walnut orchards they use a tractor and belt running on a cam pulley to shake them down. The older way was to knock them with a long, strong stick.


You can see the tree on Google easier than I can see it from my house. :) That means I struck while the iron was hot. I just grabbed limbs and did some gentle shaking, kind of like a thunderstorm wind..lol..
At first though, I cleaned up those on the ground..
