We haven't seen the movie, but might if we ever get into the big city. While the message might be a good one the irony is that it is produced by Disney, and as pointed out in a recent AlterNet article "Disney is the world's premier vertically-integrated entertainment and merchandising machine. Already the market is crowded with WALL-E toys and other crap, much of which will eventually wind up in landfills".

Reminds me of the beautifully produced, and eye-opening coffee table book "Material World" which shows mostly through photography how people around the world live by taking an average family's picture with all their belongings in front of their abode...Africans having a couple of bowls and a goat, Russians having a handful of precious and well-maintained items, and then some family from Dallas, Texas with plastic crap and tons of stuff spilling out and engulfing the cul-de-sac on which they live. The book was apparently popular enough but I was disappointed when the publisher started producing calendars...more crap for consumers.

It seems we can't even get a good message across without ruining it with the very stuff it opposes.
