Can't get the folks in the kitchen here. It is WAY too small. So the dough gets Kitchenaid'd and then set to rest. Then folks toss their "pie" and add goodies for individuals as the stones in the ovens are all nicely heated by then.

However, you are again broadbrushing. Some folks have gadgets because they like gadgets and have fun with gadgets. NOT because they are afraid of doing without but because gadgets are interesting. The kidlets love gadgets and routinely pick them up at the flea markets, off freecycle and at the thrift stores. Take them apart and make new or more gadgets out of them. Technical puzzles.

And folks with automatic washers don't do laundry until bazillion times everyday. Sheesh, I'd suggest a dose of reality and a trip through the homes of some regular everyday folks!

I didn't say that. There's lots of homespun fun here abouts. The ones who
aren't having fun are the techno-wienies who confuse fun with the assuagement
of their fears of doing without the techno-crap.

No you wouldn't. You can't do without a computer what you can with one, be
on this list, for example. But most technology is misapplied to do things done
just s well without it or else to over do something best left in decent
modesty. With an automatic washing machine ('automatic' was specified in the
original posit) people get in the habit of washing three changes of clothes, all
the bed linen, all the towels, and a lot more .... every day. Why not, then,
have too many clothes and wear them for only three hours at a time? That's an
over-application of technology.

Not only are there fine pedal powered washers, there are also those that use
a lever to operate the dasher and then a manual wringer. If your ownership
and use of clothes is modest, it'd work just fine.

As to the pizza, one gets out one's Forschner to slice the pepperoni, et.
al. *while* the Kitchenaide kneads the pizza dough. Multi-tasking while
sharing a good brew and conversation with a roomful of friends.

To the Forschner, yes of course. To the Kitchenaide, how techno-sad! Here
the roomful of friends participates in the kneading of the pizza dough while
having said conversation and then share in the tossing of the dough. All
pizzas here are hand tossed, and I'm working on making all the brews hand malted.
Not there yet but closing in on it. </HTML>
