Welcome to the world of the average high school teacher that has been around for a few years. The California arm of the NEA has about guaranteed they will make that kind of money too in California!
It has nothing to do with the colleges and everything to do with the unions starting at the lowest levels.
It also has nothing to do with the current conversation, only your state of mind. And your continual harping on it only shows your lack of ability to think beyond certain worn groves in your little crainium! You get stuck in a think grove and that's it. Someone needs to smack you up long side the head and get you to think about something new! You repeat over and over and over the same old things. We all know exactly what you are going to say about any topic. Boring, boring, boring! Get a life, Bill!

Sorry, I was a little hasty there.
The question is whether it's appropriate to insist that only highly-paid
masters' degree holders be allowed to teach, as the teachers' "union"
has swung it. Given that it really is college material, then that would
be fine. I'd like to see calculus being taught only by people with
advanced degrees. But why are people earning $60K to teach arithmetic?
I'll bet I could find a dedicated arithmetic teacher for my own kids for
a lot less. Why must the government waste money, just so that competent
people can be locked out of a job?
Sorry, I can't parse the second sentence at all. Do you mean BA
granting institutions do have 2/3 of their units in actual college
credit courses? Why, of course: much more, even. You would take a
difficult upper-division course, and spend money on it, if it didn't
contribute to your earning the degree? Colleges are afraid to offer
courses that might not be too popular, because of costs, and non-credit
would certainly make them unpopular. (Don't confuse non-credit courses
with elective courses; an elective course can provide BA units without
being specifically required for a particular degree.)

Bill, CC's are for AA/AS degrees, they aren't meant to have classes that_______________________________________________
contribute to a BA degree. Colleges that do have BA degrees don't have 2/3
of their classes not contibuting to BA degrees. Get your head out of a
space that never sees daylight.
