many feel that it is only the descendants of Abraham that can claim the
"chosen" status. Converts carry some kind of "second class" status.

Response:
This is only a "feeling". It is not supported by Torah or by what is taught
in the synagogues and temples.

There was even some disagreement among the apostils concerning who must
follow the laws of the Old Testament. Peter taught that all, Jews and
Christians alike, were to follow the old laws. Paul taught that only the
Jews were required to adhere. He even disagreed on the need to circumcise
those who were not born Jewish.

Response:
True. But they were not prohibited from worshipping as you originally said.

Response:
As I said, political.
Politics within the leadership of the Hebrews, called in the NT the Sanhedrin.

Wendy asked:
> Please explain "pronunciation of the Sacred Name".

Response:
The Creator made himself known to man by his familiar name. It can be seen
many times in Tanakh in Hebrew and is transliterated into English in many
personal names of prophets such as Isaiah. The word in English written
Hallelujah contains the Sacred Name. The Rabbinic Jews require that this
name not be pronounced for fear of thereby breaking the commandment which
says we are not to profane the name. The man the Christians call Jesus,
whose Hebrew name contains the Sacred Name, used it out loud in public.
There is evidence in the NT that this is the reason he was executed.

>It seems that people must add their own do's and don'ts. But they all

Response:
Not necessarily true. Many Christians pray to their god, Jesus; many more
end their prayers with a little formula which invokes the names of three
gods, all of which the Jews completely reject.
