Many Christians do see themselves as separate from the Jews, although it is
the same religion. Many of the founding Christians were Jews, but many were
Gentiles, Peter comes to mind. He was a Gentile. The Jews certainly see
themselves as separate from the Christians. Most still believe that only the
descendents of Abraham are allowed to worship "their" God, and that the word
of God is meant only for them. That is what the "stink" was all about over
Jesus back when he was alive and why he was killed. He taught the word of
God to the Gentiles. It gets sticker. Mohammad was a Christian and the
teachings in the Qur'an are Christ's. Now they (Jews, Christians and
Moslems) are like three sibling brothers all fighting over their Father's
inheritance.

Actually, I don't think Christians see themselves as being separate from
those of Jewish faith in most fronts. After all, they openly follow a
Jewish
carpenter and his father, their God. All the founders of Christianity were
Jews and
they started out in synagogues. All the original Christian writings were by
Jews, so of course the Christian faith is tracable to them. Essentially
their
faith is an offshoot from judaism, so I still think the statement is fine.
