I think we might need to go to the bleeding edge to support Mac OS X. I
took a look at the bug report filed yesterday by John Brewer. A little bit
of poking around on the libtool pages reveals that there have been some
important fixes for Darwin shared library support and convenience library
support, committed in just the past few days. I don't think we can fix
these problems locally in FreeTDS, so we will need to either try out a CVS
version of libtool or wait for the next libtool release.

I upgraded to the last stable version, almost the same as you:

$ libtool --version
ltmain.sh (GNU libtool) 1.4.2 (1.922.2.53 2001/09/11 03:18:52)

Let's give that a try, and if we need the very latest, I guess we'll go
there.
