http://www.cjb.net offers free accounts. dbclient to username AT shell.cjb.net
No outgoing mail but they claim to have email accounts (I cannot find them). 10MB each mail and web space (100MB if you pay). 1MB file upload (10MB if paid).

The internet connection seems to be about 1/5 as fast as sdf or visualserver, which is 4-5 times dialup speeds.

Comes with lynx. You can install links, w3m, elinks, netrik, retawq, arena, dillo, opera and seamonkey (not firefox or netsurf).
They have gtk (1.2 only?). installhome or uninstallhome
I don't know why I have jpeg, tiff, and libX11 installed. I installed
links2 and retawq. Over 10,000 packages.

Mutt is available (vi default) and might be able to at least receive mail.

I have not yet tried using BL to connect to cjb, as X-terminal.
It should be an excellent way to run graphical programs on a very old laptop, without compiling or installing them, via dialup. The really old laptop screens are very slow.
