The latest Opera 9.51, even if you download the Slackware 8.0, 8.1,9.0
version, appears to require glibc 2.3.1 as well as two additional
dependencies related to c++.

I installed the glibc 2.3.2 solibs from Slackware 9.1 into an old BL3.3 setup (after copying all the glibc 2.2.5 libraries to a backup directory).
Can I run BL3 without glibc (using libc5) and then ldconfig to restore 2.2.5 after deleting 2.3.2?

libstdc++.so.6 - not found in Slackware 4.0 or 7.1

http://www.ssforce.com/libstdc++6.zip (about 1M). so.6.0.3 link to .6
(elflibs comes with libstdc++.so.2 - three versions of it)

It also needs something like libg++.so.* (in elflibs)

Could someone with broadband (or Steven) try to get this working?

9.50 (beta) did not need the library upgrade but crashed a lot.
It would access sites that 9.26 did not.

Perhaps Opera would compile for glibc 2.2 if I asked politely.

I reported as a bug the fact that the Slackware 8.0 version needed the SW9.0 glibc and that they did not list dependencies of Opera 9.51.

I then tried to run MaPiVi photo manager and it accepted the new glibc 2.3.2 (not 2.3.1) but seems to need libpng12.so (which I had included in my svgalib package) and also perl. It wants perl modules Dynaloader.pm (not found in the perl of Slackware 4 or 7.1) and Heavy.pm (found in Slackware 7.1, which is now 8 years old).

ldd does not list these as dependencies. Maybe the dependencies are hidden in some perl modules?

Are perl modules interchangeable between versions? The program ran under Slackware 11 so maybe I can steal the required bits from there.
